The proximity to the contiguous US makes travel to the mountains outside of Mexico City or the warm coast line of Baja an ideal destination. Mexico’s volcanoes offer an exciting trip for individuals seeking the challenges of climbing at moderate altitude amidst an interesting cultural backdrop. It is an excellent spot for learning climbing skills, and gaining experience with climbing at altitude. The Baja Peninsula is a land of dramatic contrasts, with cactus-filled deserts and towering mountains meeting a rich marine environment along hundreds of miles of coastline. The Peninsula is bordered on its East coast by the gentle Gulf of California (also known as Sea of Cortez) and the wild Pacific Ocean pounds its west coast.
