Join us for the classic Patagonia trek through Chile’s Torres del Paine National Park.
We begin our trip in the bustling port city of Punta Arenas on Chile’s southern coast. We then travel to the quaint fishing village of Puerto Natales and on to the incredible scenery of Torres del Paine national park. There are several different options for our trekking route. We can do a complete circuit of the park or the classic “W” hike which includes trips up the Silencio, Ascencio, Francia, and Grey valleys. Both routes are exceptional. While trekking we have the option of camping or utilizing the beautiful hut system that exists in the park. We would be happy to discuss the differences in route options, please contact our office if you have any questions.
Highlights of Torres del Paine
Punta Arenas: We will begin and end our trip in this picturesque city located at the bottom of the South American continent. The straights of Magellan border this historic seaport and great seafood is plentiful! There are many sights to see ranging from the maritime museum to local markets. On our return we will spend a day visiting a penguin rookery along the coast.
PUERTO NATALES: We will spend a day and night here on our way to the park. A friendly fishing village surrounded by fjords and glaciers!
TORRES DEL PAINE NATIONAL PARK: The park is located approximately three hours from Puerto Natales. It is home to some of the most striking scenery in South America with immense granite towers rising up from the surrounding plains. Valley Silencio – our first hike in the park will follow this valley up to the infamous climbers camps, camp Torres and camp Japanese. From our camp here it is a short hike to the Torres viewpoint. A new hut at camp Torres offers an excellent place to spend the night if the weather is inclement.
LOS TORRES: The most spectacular viewpoint in the entire park! This is an outstanding place to take in the Sweeping vistas of the famous granite towers.
VALLE FRANCES: Awesome hiking beneath incredible towers called the Cuernos del Paine.
LAGO GREY: Our trekking route will take us beside this magnificent lake. It is one of the most beautiful places in the park. The lakeside hut is outstanding and has incredible views of the glacier Grey.
RETURN TO PUERTO NATALES/PUNTA ARENAS: We will make our way out of the park and back to Puerto Natales for the night. We have the option of spending an extra day in Puerto Natales on our return, and taking a boat ride to the Balmaceda glacier to watch the calving glacier ice amidst the stunning scenery of this spectacular fjord!
